Create2Dona

Create2Dona sells trendy and cute items such as pens, pencils, keychains and bracelets that are hand-crafted. We have yet to grow, but in the end, we aim to donate $1,000 annually towards various charities through our own entrepreneurship and teamwork. This way, we could provide funds for those who are struggling and are in need of assistance consistently throughout the years.

Our business is more than just an enterprise; it is a continuation of the spirit of giving that began with the Maui Strong Fund. We are committed to fostering a group of teens who value integrity, community and collaboration. Our business name Create2Dona derives from creating something to give for the greater good. As we grow, we are dedicated to making a positive impact, both through our products and volunteer services, and most importantly, by giving back to our community. Together, we believe we could make a better future one step at a time.

How we started

From Heartfelt Giving to an Impactful Teen Business founded by Elizabeth Kennedy & Megan Lu

In August 2023, there was a devastating series of wildfires that broke out in Hawaii which spread predominantly across Lahaina on the northwest coast of Maui island. We felt an urge to make a difference and help the Maui residents who lost their loving homes, family members and school communities. Watching the national news about the massive destruction of 17,000 acres of land and the desperation of losing 102 precious lives in Maui, we knew we had to help in any way possible. We decided to fundraise for the Maui Strong Fund — a charity through Hawaii Community Foundation dedicated to providing emotional and financial support for those affected. We reached out to our group of compassionate friends to join together at our Great Neck schools open house night and raised over $1,000 for donation. For this event, we created a Maui Wildfire Awareness Display Board and asked for a $5 contribution in exchange for a custom-made #SupportMaui pen and pencil set.

We were driven by this experience and our desire to help others within Great Neck and neighboring communities of Long Island, NY. During the summer of 2024, we started a small-scale business that is manageable alongside our high school work to help those in need with the net proceeds.
